Congregational Meeting and Potluck

On Sunday, June 26th members from Bethel gathered for the summer “programmatic” congregational meeting.  Exciting things are happening!

Worship Committee is planning a new members Sunday for September where we will welcome a number of new members.  We’re growing!  Building on our success from last year, they are also working with Christian Education to plan another inter-generational Christmas Pageant.

Christian Education has a renewed energy as they plan for fall church school.  Next year we’ll have three classes:  toddlers, elementary and youth.  With new children coming into our church school, our fall program will focus on building community.  To get us started we’ll take a field trip to the National Zoo one Saturday in September or October.  In addition to weekly church school there will also be a focus on learning the significance of the sacrament of communion.  This will be led by Pastors Curlee and Richar during church school the first Sunday of each month.

Social Concerns is enthusiastic about the launch of First Friday this fall.  First Friday will build on our volunteering at AFAC the First Friday of every other month with a monthly First Friday dinner and volunteer opportunity.  We’ll gather for dinner and fellowship before spending one to two hours volunteering at local organizations in Arlington.  First Friday is a great way to get to know Bethel and give back to our community.

Energy and enthusiasm are in the air at Bethel.  Won’t you come join us!
